Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Shenandoah National Park features rolling hills, 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail, and stunning underground caverns. Late spring is the ideal time to visit this park for flowers, wildlife sightings, and mild weather. This extended weekend trip is the perfect kick off to summer!

FAQs

  • Northern Virginia.

    You have multiple airport options to arrive at this park. We will do pickups at BWI and IAD if you plan to fly.

    The park is about a 3 hour drive from Baltimore and about 2 hours from Washington DC. We can meet one on one to discuss which option may be the best for you.

  • The total cost for the trip is $750.

    You’ll pay a non-refundable $250 deposit to secure your spot, and 2 additional $250 payments the following months.

    Example: Deposit paid January 4th ($250). Payment 1 deducts Feb 4th, payment 2 deducts March 4th.

  • Your trip cost covers:

    -Lodging for the 4 day/3 night weekend with your own bed in a shared space

    -All meals including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks! We will eat out at a local restaurant near the park Saturday night, which will not be included.

    -All park entrance fees, ticket costs, and permits required

    -Complete expert hiking and activity itinerary. Your host has visited this park multiple times and has crafted the perfect weekend. We will hit multiple trails, see park highlights, and tour the Luray Caverns! You don’t have to think about or plan a single thing!

    -Transportation during the weekend. We are your personal drivers!

    -Packing and travel guide. To avoid any confusion or under-packing you’ll receive a detailed PDF of everything you’ll need or want to pack for a comfortable and safe trip.

  • Plan to arrive to BWI by mid morning on Friday or to IAD by noon on Friday.

    If you live on the east coast, you’re welcome to drive yourself to our lodging! We just ask that you plan to travel with the group during the weekend. Plan to arrive by mid-afternoon on Friday.

    You are welcome to arrive earlier or stay beyond the scheduled itinerary, but you will need to make your own arrangements for any additional time.

  • We will be staying in lodge or large home style accommodations. Specific details will be shared upon booking confirmation for everyone’s safety, but expect to have your own bed with some shared spaces like kitchen, bathrooms, living rooms, and bedrooms.

    We will collect your lodging and trip preferences with your Trip Intake Form. While we will do our best, we cannot guarantee every preference will be accommodated.

  • The main event will be 9.3 mile Old Rag Mountain! (Pending permit acquisition. This is done through the NPS and your host will handle)

    This is a bucket list style hike for many hikers and is considered challenging. We understand this can be a scary undertaking, but we’re so excited to be able to tackle this experience as a group!

    If you have specific concerns about being able to complete this hike, pleased reach out! We’re happy to create an alternate itinerary for those with limitations.

    We’ll also be trekking some more minor trails on Friday and Sunday- expect to see waterfalls and gorgeous hilly landscapes.

  • Once your trip deposit is paid, you will receive a Trip Agreement email from Trinity Griffin Events and a welcome email from Katie.

    As we get closer to the trip, you will be added to a pre-trip group chat with the other hikers and your hosts! We will also schedule one-on-one video calls with everyone to get to know you and answer any remaining questions around mid-April.

  • During scheduled group hikes, we ask that you stay with the group. Your host will have recommendations for additional hikes that you can take if you choose to add extra personal time to your trip!

    We will not be providing alcohol, but you are welcome to purchase and bring with you. Hot Girl Hikes is also 420 friendly in states where it is legal.

  • Your safety on this trip is really important to us. For that reason, Trinity Griffin Events will be doing background checks on our hikers. If there’s something on your background you’d like us to know about, please reach out! Your background check results will be stored safely by Trinity Griffin Events.

    As a part of your Trip Intake Form you will be sharing your Emergency Contact information. This information will only be used for emergencies.

    During the trip, your host will review emergency preparedness plans for your lodging, hikes, and quick hiker first aid.

    Your hosts are CPR/First Aid certified.

    5. Thou shalt appreciate each hike for what it offers.

    7. Thou shalt always have a post-hike meal + beverage.

    8. Thou shalt not shame others for creating content on the trail.

    9. Thou shalt promise to push through and try difficult things.

    10. Thou shalt not gatekeep- tips, gear, advice.
